“Ananya?”

“Yes, Grandpa?”

“Have you completed your homework?”

Ananya was an eight-year-old baby with black hair and a sharp mind. She was the most beloved child of her grandfather.

“Yes, Grandpa, I have,” she said.

“But you write it five times in your notebook,” he said.

“But, papa, we don’t do that. I work on my laptop. My mechanical teacher gives me homework. I complete it there itself.”

“OK, give me your science book. I will ask you certain questions from that,” Grandpa said.

“Papa, what sort of book are you talking about? I have an e-book.” Ananya displayed the e-book on the laptop.

Grandpa tried to read it. But he had less of a habit of reading on the computer. Of course, his mind and his memory were of the last century.

“In our times, there were books made of paper. Everything was written on paper. We used to answer questions from the book itself. It was a nice time,” he said, with a smile.

“My child, can you write an essay or a story?’’ he inquired.

“Yes, papa, I provide a plot of my imagination to the artificial intelligence. It completes the story within a fraction of a second,” answered Ananya.

Grandfather was a little disturbed. He had an old idea of schools, books, and writing.

Ananya’s dad arrived.

“Daddy, it appears as if your grandfather is very active today. He is asking so many questions, and he works tirelessly. What is the secret?” Enquired Ananya.

“It’s O.K. I can make him sleep.”

Her dad takes a remote and clicks on a certain switch. Grandfather automatically goes to bed and sleeps.

‘Your grandpa will not disturb you now. He is in a deep sleep.’ Said his father.

“Dear child, he is not your real grandpa. He is a Cymek, which is a robot. Your real grandfather’s mind is uploaded into the robot. Your real grandpa is sitting in the upper bedroom.’ confirmed her dad.

Ananya ran to the upper room. Her grandfather was reading a newspaper. He welcomed her affectionately and took her into his lap.

‘Papa, have you uploaded your mind to the Cymek? Your duplicate is an exact copy of your personality.’ Exclaimed she.

‘Yes, my child, I will never die now. This body will decay, but my mind, memory, emotions, and consciousness will live forever. But my ideas about life will remain as my mind and memory.’ Said grandpa.

Ananya was now happy to know that her whole family would live forever.
