“He says America and China are both great countries.”
Of course they are. They are Two Great Countries with One Great Idea.
In fact, it appears that both countries are now sailing in the same boat — the Empire Express.
Why stop at your own borders when you can simply invite the neighbours to join?
The Chinese President travels to America with one important mission: to meet his friend Donald.
The two leaders -Trump and Xi Jinping sit together, smile for the cameras and agree on one thing: their countries are great.
What a coincidence!
America is happy with Venezuela and still seems to have Canada somewhere on its wish list. China, meanwhile, has its own ideas about Vietnam.
Perhaps the two leaders are simply exchanging notes:
“You take care of your neighbourhood, I’ll take care of mine.”
And why should leadership be limited to a few terms?
If God has blessed these leaders with the ability to serve their people, perhaps they should serve them for life.
Maybe even longer.
And this is where technology becomes useful.
The Chinese President could share some of his country’s impressive AI technology with his American friend. After all, elections can be stressful, and a little technological assistance might make governing much easier.
Trump and Xi Jinping also agree to rename Artificial Intelligence. It’s not at all Artificial. Artificial means fake or not real. Thus, they agree to change its name to ‘Super Intelligence’.
Especially as the next election approaches.
Why worry about voters when artificial intelligence can perhaps explain to everyone why you should remain in charge?
Of course, this is satire.
But looking at the increasingly unusual political world around us, one sometimes wonders whether the definition of democracy is being rewritten in real time.
Trump, Xi Jinping and Putin — each in his own way — have contributed to a political era where the traditional textbook definitions of democracy seem to be getting a little… flexible.
And judging from the smiles, handshakes and friendly gestures between Trump and the Chinese President, they certainly look like two old friends meeting at a reunion.
Perhaps the only thing missing is a group photo with the caption:
“Great countries. Great leaders. Great friendship.
Now, who wants to invite the neighbours?”
