In the epic war of the Mahabharata, a young warrior named ‘Barbarik’ played a crucial role. He was the grandson of Bhima and the son of Ghatotkach, known for his exceptional fighting skills. Barbaric was determined to join the war, but he had a unique condition– he would fight on the weaker side.

The wars are inevitable. They can’t be avoided. Even Lord Krishna could not avoid the war of the Mahabharata. The destruction and the creation go on simultaneously. The emperors and kings join either side to support and participate in the war. Only a few remain neutral.

When Lord Krishna learned about Barbarik’s intention, he was concerned. Krishna knew that Barbarik’s unconventional fighting style would lead to chaos on the battlefield. Barbaric would keep switching sides, fighting for the weaker party, and potentially destroying everything in his path.

Krishna devised a plan to prevent Barbaric from joining the war. He approached Barbaric and asked for his head as ‘Dakshina’, a gift from a devoted disciple. Barbarik, being a loyal follower of Krishna, agreed to the request. However, he wished to witness the war before parting with his life.

Krishna beheaded Barbarik and placed his head on a hill overlooking the battlefield. From his new vantage point, Barbarik watched the war unfold. After the battle concluded, Barbarik was asked to narrate the story of the war.

Barbarik’s account was astonishing. He claimed to have seen only Lord Krishna on the battlefield, with every warrior and event being a manifestation of Krishna’s divine power. To Barbarik, the war was a display of Krishna’s Maya, or illusory power. The warriors being killed were Krishna, and the killer warriors were all Krishna.
