Cancer is the deadliest disease. We do not know what the actual causes of this disease are. Almost all organs of the body are prone to be affected by this disease. Here, we are going to discuss stomach cancer.
Stomach Cancer
We know the growth or multiplication of cells that occurs in the stomach is stomach cancer. We have also known stomach cancer as gastric cancer. In fact, the stomach stores the food we eat. And then the food gets digested at this place.
How do you know a person has stomach cancer? How one knows that the disease has just affected the inner walls of the stomach? It’s quite difficult to detect cancer in the initial stages. But, the following are some symptoms that one must not ignore.
Symptoms
They detect these diseases in people around and above the age of forty years. Hence, a person suffering from such a disease finds it difficult to swallow food. Some people eat a small amount of food and feel as if their stomach is replete & there is no appetite. Pain in the Stomach which persists for a long time, vomiting, and nausea may be the sign of stomach cancer. Sudden weight loss and frequent burning sensation in the esophagus may show gastric cancer.
But, we should worry only when such symptoms last for a prolonged duration and occur frequently. Otherwise, one should not conclude that it’s cancer. And, we know that stomach is a magic box. Actually, we know very little about it.
Diagnosis
Fecal Occult Blood Test- FOBT detects stomach cancer. This test shows the presence of minute blood particles in the stool. Another such test is the Tarry or ‘Coffee ground stool test. Barium-X ray, CT scan, or gastric endoscopy are other tools for the diagnosis. Biopsy & examination of affected tissue gives a clue to the disease.
When such a disease reaches the second stage, there is blood vomiting & the body becomes weaker.
Causes
Still, we do not know about the causes of cancer. But, scientists are trying to find out the reasons behind it.
The bacteria known as Helicobacter Pylori is probably playing an important role. And, it is perhaps responsible for the infection. The cells get affected by this & develop cancer. Thus, cells multiply. Some scientist says that H. Pylori converts nitrates from the food material to nitrites. Therefore, the nitrites are carcinogenic & start cancer.
Heavy alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking & meat-eating habits may be responsible for such a disease.
Treatments
The best remedy is to remove the affected part by surgery followed by chemotherapy & radiation therapy.
Preventive measures
Smoking is the primary cause of cancer. Hence, one must avoid it. Similarly, one must avoid alcohol consumption, tobacco chewing, & meat-eating habits. Also, avoid the use of bakery foods. Eating green vegetables & fruits & regular exercise with Yoga will always boost the immune system.
