In this article, we shall discuss the benefits of National Cadet Corps Certificates in all three wings of the Army, Paramilitary forces & private companies in India.
The facility of N.C.C. training is available in most of the colleges of Indian universities. Hence, this training aims to develop leadership qualities, discipline, patriotism & nationalism and imparts much more to the youth. However, while going through this training, a student earns the final ‘C’ certificate simultaneously as he completes graduation studies.

N.C.C. Special entry Scheme
Students have great opportunities for becoming an officer in Army, Navy, or Air force. In fact, these cadres are equivalent to Indian Administrative Services. Therefore, they have great value.
A student must have passed the university degree examination with at least 50% marks. In addition, he should have at least a ‘B’ grade in the ‘C’ certificate examination. Air force & Naval academy prefers science & engineering graduates as per the post.
The students who fulfill the above qualification are exempted from the written examination. Thus, they do not require the passing of the exam. In this scheme, they directly call candidates for a Services Selection Board interview. (S.S.B. interview).
Services Selection Board Interview
They call the students who qualify for the ‘Special entry scheme’ for Services Selection Board interviews.
This interview is a rigorous process. The process of the test continues for five full days. Of course, they assess the overall ability of candidates during these days. Thus, a student has to appear in Group discussion, Group task, Psychological assessment, Physical ability test, Intelligence test & personal interview.
Finally, the selected candidates undergo rigorous training at IMA-Dehradun, OTA-Chennai & IAF-Hyderabad. In fact, these are world-famous academies. After completion, of course, they appoint them as officers in the services.
Furthermore, students having an N.C.C. certificate (19-25 age) get two chances in a year. The first advertisement appears around June/July & the second one around December/January.

Entry as Soldiers & other trades
They appoint graduates having a ‘C’ certificate for the post of a soldier (General Duty), Soldier Clerk, Soldier nursing assistants & other trades without written examination. Moreover, students are likely to get a job in the army & entry is certain.
Benefits of NCC in Paramilitary forces
Paramilitary forces such as B.S.F., CRPF, CISF & others prefer graduates with N.C.C. training. There are a lot of bonus marks for certificate holders. If you have a ‘C’ Certificate with an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade, your entry into these organizations is definite.
Private Companies

CDS-Open for all graduates
To sum up, there are different gateways for entering the Arm Forces. UPSC conducts the Combined Defense Services examination twice a year. But, this applies to all graduates-with or without a ‘C’ certificate. All have to pass this examination which is quite a tough job.
